Ann
Marie and
Joey Di Meglio
Joey was born 4/17/70 to Maria and Sal Di Meglio in
Bronx, N.Y. He comes from a long line of chefs and lobstermen.
His father and grandfather were all chefs, so it was
only right that Joey should follow in the family business.
Joey has been a chef for 25 years, family trained. No
prom and proper culinary school, just years of teaching
and hard work since he was a child. He grew up working
with his family since he could walk. He was helping
his grandfather, Joseph, make lobster traps from the
young age of 10.
He made his first pizza under the watchful eye of his
father and his grandfather at the age of 13. He ran
the family business after his father unexpectedly had
a hear attacked at the young age of 15, and since then
has been married to the business for the love of cooking.
He
has had several pizzeria's and restaurants all based
in the Bronx and Yonkers, N.Y. His pizzeria included
Ponzo's Pizzeria in Yonker's and Napoli Pizza &
Pasta in the Bronx. He and his father owned San Giorgio
Famiglia Ristorante in Yonkers for several years.
He
opened San Giorgio's after returning from his honeymoon
with his wife Ann Marie in August of 1993.
They
decided to move to Panama City Beach, Florida in 2002
with their family, Son Joe Jr. (6), daughter Arianna
almost 2, and Ann Marie's mom, Angie, who unfortunately
passed away 4 months after they moved.
Since
they made the move to Florida, Joe and Ann Marie have
had several Joey's locations. Their first on Thomas
Dr. (8815), their second at 1000 E. 23rd Str in Panama
City (Sold in 2006), their third at 2521 Thomas Dr.
(Current Location) and soon to be the fourth at 17140
Front Beach Road on the west end of the beach.
In
keeping with the family tradition, their children
are always involved. Their son Joe, now 12, is very
helpful and wants to someday take over the family
business. Their daughters, Arianna, now 9, and Maria-Angela,
5, are always willing to lend a hand.
Joey
strives on giving the best quality product, (Grande
cheese, Alta Cucina tomatoes) consistency and taste.
He has always taken great pride in his business, and
he is committed to always serving the best quality
to all of his dedicated local and repeat vacation
customers. |
Jason
GaNung
Ever
since Jason was a child, from the first time he could
remember walking into his family's restaurant, he
knew the restaurant business was the path he wanted
to follow.
Jason GaNung grew up learning all aspects of his family's
New York City restaurant business, which has a portfolio
of some of the New York Times most award winning and
iconic restaurants in New York City in the last 40
years.
Jason
learned all about the restaurant business working
with his family and moved on to run some of the most
successful NYC restaurants and lounges.
As an accomplished professional in the hospitality
industry, Jason is proficient in all front and back
of house operations, as well as entertainment operations.
Patrons are guaranteed to have a great time at Joey's,
their food and dining experience will be sure to far
exceed their expectations.
Jason has been visiting Panama City Beach for over
25 years as a child and then as an adult and has always
had a love for this area. His sister, Stacy, moved
here about 11 years ago. She was married to
James and had a son, David. Jason and Stacy's mother,
Catherine, soon followed with their grandmother, Mary,
and cousin, Jessica.
On a family visit back to Panama City Beach, Jason
met another NY fellow restaurateur, Joey, and it didn't
take long for Jason to recognize Joey's love of cooking,
and more importantly, the quality and time Joey put
into making his famous menu. They decided to team
up and start a new venture with Joey's On The Beach
II and carry on the flavors of Joey and Ann Marie
Di Meglio's Italian family with a "New York Style"
twist.
You will find Jason at Joey's On The Beach II. Be
sure to stop in and say hello. |
